Employees at a web development and digital marketing firm in the North East are continuing to contribute to the growth of the area’s digital economy by providing the charity, Edge North East, with a free website design worth £10,000.
White Digital, a Darlington-based company, has been working diligently for the past five months to design a completely bespoke website for Edge North East CIC.
The charity won an online competition that White Digital held in April, which was run across all their social media channels. The prize was for one North East business to win a free website, which includes all the content on every page, images and full design worth up to ten thousand pounds.
White Digital has thoroughly enjoyed working closely with Edge North East on this design and has loved getting to give back to the community. One of the key web developers that helped craft the site, Will Marklew, said:
“When we found out who won the competition, we were so excited to get to work for such an important charity. Now that the site is live and Edge North East is happy with the results, it finally feels like all our hard work really paid off and we are over the moon with the website.”
Edge North East is a very deserving winner of this site, as they are committed to helping young people who have been harmed by serious youth violence or child exploitation throughout the North East. They work closely with the young people affected, as well as their families, healthcare experts and Northumbria Police. They do this by providing a response service, outreach, and mentorship programs.
In the last year, Edge has been able to help 84 young people who were referred to them via Northumbria Police, Social Services, and educational institutions.
Recently, unprecedented access was given to BBC News regarding Edge North East’s operation which demonstrated the significance and difficulty of these situations, from missing vulnerable teenagers to children being forced into organised drug trafficking rings. You also discover that many of the Edge North East staff members have personal connections to the cause, which only motivates them to work harder in their mission to defend these vulnerable youngsters.
